Most members want an automatic annual membership renewal, for convenience, so that their membership continues, and so they can give the annual support that keeps us going.  We have done what most members want.  Automatic renewal saves us time and money.  We pass that savings along to you.

We have provided below a renewal payment plan for just $18 to purchase an annual membership.  You may cancel the automatic renewal payment plan at any time after your make the first year's payment this way.

OPTION # 2. Paper check choice  --- pay $44 (for two year subscription) by a paper check mailed to us.  Send a check for $44, for your two year membership, by post office mail to Joseph Bucklin Society, 8063 S. Michele Lane, Tempe, AZ 85284.

Why do we charge more for paper than an electronic payment and renewal?  The answer is it does cost us more time and money to process a check than receive a payment electronically, then set up a reminder and mail a paper reminder invoice out at the end of a year. That is why we do charge more for paper check payments.

Why we do not accept checks for less than a two year membership? The answer is we have to have at least two years membership to make it "more than a break even" situation. (It costs us more than $18 in secretarial time, paper, postage, et cetera to get someone on the rolls as a member, get their data into the database of Bucklins, send them email newsletters, and issue their certificate. So, at the end of one year the new member is an expense (We've lost money by having the new member if they only stay a year). If the new member sends us questions or more data than simply their parents and grandparents' information, it costs us even more secretarial time, so we are losing even more to have the new member. But the second year we gain a little, and the end of two years, the member's dues for both years have paid for a total of one day operation of the websites (or one hour of a secretary for data input.)
