9. William Bucklin1 (Jabez-2, Daniel-1) was born on 3
Aug 1787 [1]. He died in Providence, Rhode Island on 15 May 1864 .[11,17] He died in
1864 .[1] He was buried in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence, Providence County,
Rhode Island.[1,7,18] He is reference number Buck304.
Note for further research that this may well be the
William Bucklin noted as having the house at 8 Arnold Street, Providence, RI
William Bucklin and Mary Church were married on 18 Jun 1810 in Providence,
Rhode Island.[16] Mary Church1 (daughter of Nathaniel Church and Mary Thayer)
was born in 1791.[1] She was born on 3 Sep 1791. She died in 1841 .[1] She was
buried in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island.[1,7]

Fourth Generation
18. Mary Church Bucklin (William-3, Jabez-2, Daniel-1) reference
number Buck618 and Robert B. Woodward
reference number Buck841 were married on 2 Jun 1847 in
Providence, Rhode Island.[[19] Robert B. Woodward (son of William Woodward) was
born in 1824 in Providence, Rhode Island.[19] He moved to San Francisco,
California about 1848 [ 22. 23 24].
Woodward established the first hotel and restaurant in San Francisco.
It was named the "What Cheer House" (A Rhode Island greeting since the time of
Roger Williams was "What cheer?" instead of "How are you?"). It is a
California State Historical Site. The hotel was destroyed in the 1906
earthquake, so the historical plaque is on the Wells Fargo building, where the
hotel was. A subsequent venture by Robert Woodward was Woodward's
Garden Amusement Park. in 1856 in San Francisco was considered "the place"
to go. It had gardens, a zoo, a park and picnic area, and a museum. It also is
a California State Historical Site, but the building is gone. The plaque is on
a restaurant called Woodward Garden, which stands on the site of the former
Woodward's Garden Amusement Park.
Robert B. Woodward died in Napa, Napa County, California on 22 Aug 1879 .
Mary Church Bucklin and Robert B. Woodward had the following six

California [19]; died on 10 Apr 1947, Berkeley, Alameda County, California[19].

23. James Tibbetts Pearce Bucklin Col.25 (William-3, Jabez-2, Daniel-1) reference number Buck2240 served
in the military with distinction. His military record includes:
- First Sergeant , 1st RI Regiment at the Battle of Bull Run on 17 Apr

- Captain, Companies A, E, and H, 4th Infantry Unit, on
17 Apr 1861Third Regiment [25-29]
- Major (a new military rank for the army) Rhode Island Artillery on 13 Apr 1862.[27,31]
Wounded in battle while a major.
- Became the most senior
Major commission in US Army on 9 Jan 1863.[33]
- Brevetted Colonel on 25 Mar 1867. As Colonel, he was in command of the regiment in many battles of Civil
War.
- He was in the Battles of Bull Run, Roanoke Island, Newbern, Fort Macon,
South Mountain, Antietam, Fredericksburg, Siege of Suffolk, Hills Point,
Petersburg. and Weldon Railroad.
- Note: further research needed to verify
this military record, brevett rank and the battle list.
After the Civil War, James returned to live in Providence, where he was appointed a harbormaster in
Providence, Rhode Island in 1885
He died in 1919 .[1 ]He was buried in Swan
Point Cemetery, Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island.[34,35]

James Tibbetts Pearce Bucklin and Hannah Hathaway White were married
on 25 Jun 1865.[21] Hannah Hathaway White (daughter of Dennis White and
Elizabeth Presby Hathaway) was born in 1841 and died in 1911 .[1] She was
buried in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence, Providence County, Rhode Island.[1,7]

Fifth Generation
27. Mary Church Woodward (Mary Church Bucklin-4, William-3, Jabez-2,
Daniel-1) reference number Buck1759 and George Edward Raum were married on 12 Apr 1882 in
Oak Knoll, Napa, California.[19] George Edward Raum was born on 22 Aug 1846 in
Charlestown, Jefferson County, Virginia, and had in a Virginia military unit at
New Market Battle in 1864, long before the marriage to Mary, a staunch Yankee.. He died in California in 1935 .19

30. Abby Robinson Bucklin (James Tibbetts Pearce-4, William-3, Jabez-2,
Daniel-1) reference number Buck625 and Henry L. Slater were married UNKNOWN. Henry L.
Slater was born UNKNOWN. He died UNKNOWN . He is reference number Buck626.

5. Providence Gazette. At age 73, an experienced naval commander according
to the newspaper obituary note.
6. Headstone Data. In June 2000, the headstone was found broken in pieces
from weather and portions missing. The only part still readable is "...seventy
fourth .... of his age. An Honest Man is the Noblest Work of God ".
Fortunately earlier transcribers recorded that this stone showed his name as
Capt Daniel Bucklin born in Rehoboth and died May 7th 1805.

18. Headstone Data. This burial is in the section of the cemetery which was
purchased by the First Congregational Society in 1848 (as soon as the cemetery
opened), and to which were transferred the bodies interred in the West Burial
Ground of Providence, which the Congregational Society had owned since 1785,
but which was closed and build over after 1848. The date of William's death
suggests he was a member of the Congregational Society and was not originally
buried elsewhere.
