1752 Family Bible Page of Capt. Joseph Bucklin 4th still exists!

Our research found this torn and barely readable page tucked away in a folder of documents in the Manuscript Room of the Rhode Island Historical Society. This is an extraordinarily important historical document for those interested in the Joseph Bucklin that shot the English captain in the capture of the English ship Gaspee.  We therefore store a copy in our Documentary Depository and place a reduced and electronically brightened and enhanced copy here for the easy reference of historians.

The entry dates run from 1752 to 1790, recording the birth of each of the five children, the deaths of four of them, Joseph 4th and his wife Zerriah.

From handwriting comparisons, it appears that the first six entries, detailing the children and the death of their mother Zeriah, were written by Capt. Joseph Bucklin 4th.  The last entry shown below, recording the death of Capt. Joseph, appears to have been added by daughter Anna (also known as Nancy), the last survivor of the family group.
