The Bucklin saga starts in New England in 1630, when William Bucklin landed
in the Massachusetts Bay Colony. From there it goes to Rhode Island, when
William moved to the area now in Rhode Island, but then in the part of present
day Bristol county which was part of Massachusetts.
Economically, the area William was in
(Rehoboth area) was tied to Providence, Rhode Island, more than to the
Massachusetts colonies.
At least 34 Bucklins served on the American side in the Revolutionary
War.

There were isolated the Bucklin family members who were loyal to the Crown during
the American Revolution. Isolated? Yes: they were few and geographically much scattered.
Yes: they were isolated and cut off from the rest of the Bucklins fighting
firmly against England.
Consider the plight of Susanna Bucklin, who shared her husband's exile from
Vermont after he joined the Provincial Corp of the British Army in 1777.

Johns, was a Lieutenant in the Provincial Corp of the British Army. Read about his service to the Crown,
resulting in brother-in-law Bucklins seeing to it that his lands in Vermont were
forfeited to the Colony.
